Full Mouth Dental Bridges

Implant retained bridges – full mouth restorations for patients in Battersea and Clapham.

Whilst dentures have long been used when a full arch of teeth need replacing, these are far from an ideal solution, even with more comfortable modern versions.

Although aesthetically satisfactory, dentures can sometimes cause discomfort in the mouth, including sore gums, as well as lacking in stability. Both of these factors can cause the wearer some degree of discomfort and potential insecurity.

Alternatives

Whilst, where individual or just a few teeth are missing, a dental bridge offers an effective alternative, it generally does depend on there being natural teeth to which they can be attached. At the Confidental Clinic in Clapham Junction, we have highly qualified dentists who, through the use of dental implants, are able to provide a stable environment to which a bridge can be attached, even without natural teeth.

Through the use of a number of dental implants, usually between four and six, we are able to provide a stable environment to which a fixed bridge can be attached. Not only does this offer a secure alternative to dentures, but the whole procedure can sometimes be completed in just a single day.

Angled implants

This instant security is achieved through the use of special implants at the rear of the mouth. These are designed to be placed at an angle of approximately forty five degrees, which affords it the additional stability needed for instant bridge placement. Naturally, once the bridge has been attached and the patient left with a full set of replacement teeth, there may be some soreness in the area of the procedure, in addition to the unfamiliarity of the new bridge.

Because of this, we suggest that you exercise caution when eating at first and stick to softer foods until such a time that the area around the implants has healed and you are feeling more confident about your new teeth. A similar procedure, it should be said, can also be used to retain dentures, for those patients who prefer to stick with this method but with the additional security of dental implants acting as a firm anchor for their dentures.
