Implants For Missing Teeth at Confidental Clinic in Clapham Junction, Battersea
What Are Dental Implants?
Here at Confidental Clinic Clapham, we provide dental implants to replace missing teeth.
A dental implant is essentially a substitute for a natural root and commonly it is screw or cylinder shaped.
Each implant is placed into a socket carefully positioned at the precise location of the intended tooth.
The implant is usually left to heal for 3-6 months as it fuses with the connecting bone thus providing a foundation for connecting single teeth, bridges or dentures.
Benefits of Dental Implants
The options to replace missing teeth are either leave and do nothing, a denture, or tooth supported bridges or Dental Implants. Confidental Clinic Clapham provide implants to those who do not want to wear dentures and those who do not which to use supporting teeth to support a bridge. Dental Implants are used in the following situations:
- Replace one or more teeth without affecting adjacent teeth.
- Support a bridge and eliminate the need for a removable denture.
- Provide support and retention for a denture.
Dental implants are fixed, look and feel better giving you the confidence to chew and smile as well as with your normal teeth. Dental Implants are very durable and last longer than another dental treatment potentially even your lifetime.
What Does it Involve?
Your teeth and bone will be assessed fully in the planning to process to ensure that dental implants are appropriate for you. This will involve photographs, xrays and impressions to produce accurate models of the teeth. We may also require a 3D scan called a cone beam CT scan which accurately reveal the dimensions and quality of the available bone and any important anatomical structures that are present which will help us produce the best result possible.
Once we have all the available information we will discuss the results and proposed plan with you with all available options and then book you in for the implant to be placed. All the treatment is carried out by our Implantologist Dr Jignesh Patel. The implants are placed under local anaesthetic precisely and allowed to heal. In between appointments temporary teeth will be fitted if required. Most patients experience little or no discomfort from this procedure and are usually back to work the next day.
Following healing, usually a second appointment is required to uncover the implant under local anaesthetic and take accurate impressions of the implant and surrounding teeth. Our master technician will then begin the process of making a highly aesthetic and accurate crown or bridge. Often our master technician will use state of the art computer scanning to produce high quality and zirconia (a type of high strength ceramic) teeth.
The teeth will then be tried in and checked to confirm the fitting and appearance with you before final connection to the implants. The implants will then be reviewed at our dental clinic at regular intervals to confirm the performance of the implants. Strict oral hygiene and regular hygienist visits are essential for maintenance of the implants. Whilst implants do not decay, they must still be looked after well to ensure healthy gum and bone around the implants.
Dr Jignesh Patel has been involved in Implant dentistry for many years and is at the cutting of edge of latest techniques designed to reduce treatment times and minimise any discomfort. Recently Dr Patel, attained the prestigious Diploma in Implant Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons.
At Confidental Clinic Clapham Junction, Battersea we are very fortunate in being able to use a number of different implants systems which enables us to choose the best one for each individual case.
The main implant systems that we use are Nobel, Biomet 3i and Biohorizons. There are cheaper implants systems available but they do not have the research, quality, backup and reliability that we require. We do not use any of the cheaper so called “copy” implants in our clinic. We only use those companies that have been established in implant dentistry for many years following.
We understand that implants can involve a significant investment in time and cost and our skilled Implant dentists offer guarantees for aspects of their implant work. In addition, dental finance packages are available to help you spread the payments out.
