Our Cosmetic Dentists here in Clapham Junction, Battersea are not only highly trained in Cosmetic Dentistry but also Facial Aesthetics too. Many factors can change the appearance of your skin – sun, smoke, pollution and unfortunately age! We all like to look good and feel good and Dermal Fillers can really help us achieve this.
What are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal Fillers are made of a product called Hyaluronic Acid, a product found naturally in our body. This gives our skin its elasticity and its smooth and plump appearance. As we age the amount of Hyaluronic Acid present decreases and combined with other factors makes skin appear dull, wrinkled and dry. We use Dermal Fillers to return Hyaluronic Acid back into the body giving your skin back its youthful appearance.
Dermal Fillers can be used to smooth:-
- Lines around your eyes, commonly known as ‘crows feet’.
- Nasio-labial lines (lines leading from the nose to the corner of your mouth).
- Lines around your lips commonly caused by smoking.
- Indentations in the chin
- Frown lines.
It can also be used to define and plump your lips and also give your cheeks more definition.
There are different types of Dermal Fillers, all specially made for individual areas. The Cosmetic Dentist will consult with you first to get your concerns and he will advise you on the effect we can achieve. From this consultation he will decide which product or products are best suited to you. The effects can last for up to 12-18 months. There are no long term problems with Dermal Fillers as the product is naturally occurring in the body.
Will it hurt?
Depending on where treatment needs to be carried out it may be possible to numb the area first. It is not a painful procedure but certain areas can be a little uncomfortable during treatment. Some areas are more sensitive than others. The results are instant although the maximum effect will be a few days after treatment once any swelling (if any) has gone. It is possible that you may incur some bruising after treatment. Therefore we recommend having the treatment when your diary is a little quieter.
Can anyone have Dermal Fillers?
Anyone can have Dermal Fillers except pregnant women and those breast feeding.
